Jeep Grand Cherokee Driver Wanted In Macomb Hit-And-Run

MACOMB TWP. (WWJ) - Macomb County authorities are looking for help from the public to identify a driver who fled the scene of an accident.

Sheriff's officials say a 53-year-old Mt. Clemens man was riding his bicycle on the shoulder of southbound Romeo Plank near Millstone Drive in Macomb Township early last Thursday morning when he was struck from behind and thrown from his bike.

The driver of the vehicle didn't stop, officials said, but continued southbound on Romeo Plank, before turning west onto Hall Road.

The victim — who deputies say had flashing LED headlights and tail lights on his bike — was taken to a local hospital for treatment of a head injury but is expected to be OK.

There were no witnesses, but deputies who recovered parts from the scene were able to determine that the wanted vehicle is a silver, 2005-2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The Jeep will have damage to its front end, specifically the bumper and a headlight.

Anyone with information about the vehicle or its driver is asked to please call the Macomb County Sheriff's Office Detective Bureau at 586-307-9358.
