Izzo Says (Again) He Plans To Stay At Michigan State

CBS DETROIT - With NBA head coaching gigs open, Michigan State legend Tom Izzo once again has been targeted as a possibility to jump to the professional ranks. Once again, Izzo has shot the rumors down.

"First of all I'm going to be at Michigan State,'' Izzo said Wednesday, according to ESPN.

As is Izzo's custom, while steadfastly maintaining that he will stay in East Lansing, Izzo refused to say he will never leave.

"I've seen too many people get stung that way," Izzo said. "But put it this way, I've got a big-time recruit coming in an hour, and if I was leaving I wouldn't be recruiting.''

Izzo's tenure as head coach of the Spartans began in 1995, and he built one of the strongest programs in the country in the nearly 20 years since then. His team has been to six Final Fours and won it all in 2000. This season Michigan State advanced to the Elite Eight, after a season full of injuries, before losing to eventual national champion UConn.
