It's Like, We Just Did This ... Hash Bash Hits Ann Arbor Saturday
ANN ARBOR (WWJ) - They're gearing up for the 43rd annual Hash Bash at the University of Michigan Diag on Saturday.
Among those attending the annual event in Ann Arbor will be Michael Morgan of Livonia, who uses marijuana for health reasons.
"I have neurofibromatosis, for me, it helps me out, I have like knee pain and back pain and I can't sleep. So it helps me out, in my own ways - so many other people have their own ways, " said Morgan, who expects that, one day, pot will be fully legalized in Michigan.
Ben Goode unwraps a sixty dollar glass blown bong. "Well, it's small and it's a water pipe ... I like it, it's green."
The green pipe is one of hundreds featured at Stairway to Heaven, the oldest head shop in Ann Arbor. Owner Arlene Kosak says she has a hard time keeping up with hash bash and the demand.
"We get tons of people in really," she said. "Sometimes I'll have a count of how many people attended the event and we'll have more than that in the store."
Kosak said she looks forward to a safe and peaceful event for Hash Bash this year.
As for legalizing marijuana for medical use .... "can't imagine it not being legal in the near future."
"I call it a celebration of youth, although we get all ages," she said. "It think it's a lot of fun, it's been going on for forty-three years, just have a good time."
