'It Was Like Magic': Beaumont, WWJ Reunite Man With Lost Wedding Ring

WEST BLOOMFIELD (WWJ) - A West Bloomfield man has been reunited with his wedding band, thanks to Beaumont Health Systems and WWJ Newsradio 950.

Tim McCabe lost his gold engraved white gold ring at the end of February. He feared the worst, after it came out while he was washing his hands in a restroom at Beaumont West Bloomfield.

"I think it just slipped off and probably bounced around in the sink and I didn't hear it," McCabe told WWJ's Kathryn Larson.

He had no idea where he'd left it.

"Between here and going to the office, I had five stops: dry cleaner, grocery store, fast food restaurant, and a gas station," he said. "[My wife] was very, very upset. Not at me, but upset that I had lost, you know, the ring."

The ring was turned in to Beaumont greeters, who were enchanted by the romantic engraving: "To Tim; From Anita — I Will Always Love You."

That was months ago.

McCabe reclaimed it at noon on Friday after a WWJ listener and Good Samaritan acquainted with the McCabes heard WWJ's story about the ring last week — and connected the dots.

"It was like magic!" he said, with a laugh.

So how did his wife react?

"She's still shocked. She is still shocked that, you know, it showed up and she wasn't sure that it would," he said, "so, she's as excited as I am."

McCabe and his wife, Anita, have been married nearly 20 years.
