iPhone 6 Production May Have Hit Snag, Older Models See Price Cut

SOUTHFIELD (CBS Detroit) - A redesign of the screen for the iPhone 6 reportedly has suppliers trying to make up for lost time as Apple prepares to unveil the new smart phone in September.
A report by Reuters stated that suppliers had to put production on hold in June and July to redesign the display panel after the backlight that illuminates the screen had to be revised.
The report cited sources which stated the new design was not bright enough, which delayed production. Multiple reports state that Apple is looking to release two versions of the new iPhone with a 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch screen.
Suppliers have resumed production, and according to the report, Apple is still planning on hosting a media event for Sept. 9 when the company is expected to unveil the new iPhone.
As reports leak out about the new iPhone, one major retailer is cutting the price of the iPhone 5.
Walmart is offering the iPhone 5c for $.97 with a two-year contract with AT&T, Verizon, Sprint and US Cellular. The phone previously was $29.
The cut in prices may be another signal that a new phone is on the horizon, Mashable reported.
