Intent To Deceive? Michigan Called For Strange Penalty Vs. Rutgers [VIDEO]

Anyone who has watched a Big Ten football game this season knows that the referees haven't brought their A-game in 2015.
However, they got an obscure call right on Saturday during Michigan's game against Rutgers in the Big House. The play in question happened when Michigan tight end Jake Butt ran to the sideline with a group of players who were coming off the field, except Butt stayed on the field split out wide by the sideline.
The call was the right one -- according to the rulebook -- but twitter was naturally abuzz with reaction after the questionable call.
I've watched a ton of football & I've never heard of the "substitution with intent to deceive" penalty. College refs really outdo themselves
