CBS DETROIT - Former Michigan head coach Brady Hoke refuted a report that he will coach the defensive line at Notre Dame in 2015.
"I have so much respect for Brian Kelly, and Brian and I have been friends for many, many years, coaching against each other in the MAC," Hoke said on CBS Sports. "Him and I had a discussion, and I know that program he's doing a great job with, but I am not going to be coaching the defensive line at Notre Dame."
Instead, Hoke will take a vacation with his wife.
"It's time to go south for a little bit - not South Bend," Hoke said. "Laura and I are going to do that. We want to coach again. You miss the kids, you miss the game planning, you miss every day seeing those young kids come in there and coach them up, but we're going to take a year and do some things that we haven't done.
"Also, as a coach, there's always things that you can learn," Hoke added, "and that's one of the things that I really want to do."
Michigan fired Hoke after the Wolverines finished the 2014 season with a record of 5-7.
