Helicopter Makes Crash Landing In Michigan UP; Pilot Unhurt
MENOMINEE, Mich. (AP) -- An experimental helicopter had to make an emergency landing in a residential area of Menominee on Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
The pilot was flying alone and walked away without serious injury after the Friday morning crash. No one on the ground was hurt, and there was no major damage to property.
Police say the helicopter lost power and struck tree tops and a power pole before making a hard landing on the street.
The Eagle Herald reports the helicopter is owned by nearby Enstrom Helicopter Corp. Enstrom president and CEO Tracy Biegler says the pilot did a good job landing the copter.
The pilot was taken to a hospital for evaluation. The Federal Aviation Administration will investigate.
