Gunshots Fired At Southfield Movie Theater; Suspect Apprehended
SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) -- A suspect is in custody after a shooting at a popular movie theater in Oakland County.
Police say they received a report of shots fired around 6:15 p.m. Friday at the AMC Star Southfield theater on 12 Mile Road, between Telegraph Road and Northwestern Highway.
According to reports, the incident apparently started as a verbal alternation between two men just before a movie started. At some point, one of the men produced a weapon and fired a single shot. No one was injured.
Officers arrived on the scene and found the suspected shooter -- who was arrested and is cooperating with the investigation. The weapon was also recovered.
The other person involved in the altercation allegedly fled the scene before police arrived. The theater was closed for the remainder of the night.
Police say the incident remains under investigation.
