Guide: Throw The Perfect Super Bowl Party

By Christy Strawser
DETROIT (104.3WOMC) The big game is nearly upon us, and no one wants to be caught on Super Bowl Sunday without a fridge full of snacks and some friends to enjoy them with. Anything less is downright un-American.

But to paraphrase the infamous Sweet Brown "ain't nobody got time" to create an elaborate spread after a tough work week. So here are some ways to have a great Super Bowl party without a lot of work.

Create a slider bar

Take a few pounds of ground round, pat it into smaller-than-usual patties, grill them, and pile them onto a big tray. Grab a few bags of slider buns and put them on another tray. Fill the table with bowls of onions, pickles, mayo, salsa, cheeses, jalapenos, bacon bits, chopped egg -- anything and everything. Add some bags of chips and you've got a party.

Hint: This works for tacos, too.

Buy tiny football toothpicks

Anything you put on these little guys will immediately become worthy of a spectacular Super Bowl party. Attach it to a simple cocktail frank, pop it into cheese cubes, spear some mini-gherkins or tiny cupcakes   -- and voila, it's a party. Order here. If you do it today, you'll still have time for them to arrive before the big game.

Craft a signature drink

It's expensive to buy an assortment of beer, wine and liquor. Make your party memorable -- and simple -- by creating a signature drink and putting it in a big punch bowl. Mix vodka and lemonade and toss in some ice, create "beer-mosas" with beer and orange juice,  go for a simple sangria with a bottle of wine, ginger ale, and a pile of colorful fruit.

Make it interesting

No Super Bowl party is complete without friendly rivalry, so make sure to print out Super Bowl squares (plenty are available for download online), have your pals toss in a few bucks, and keep it interesting with a friendly wager.

Drinking games

It doesn't really matter what it is, but every Super Bowl viewing party gets a little more raucous -- and memorable -- if a drinking game is involved. Every time there's a flag on the play, take a shot. Every time Peyton Manning says "Omaha" take a drink. Every time they mention Richard Sherman's rant -- you know what to do.
