Gratiot Closed As Two Big Fires Raged In Detroit
(WWJ) Gratiot Avenue was closed Tuesday morning for a couple blocks east of Van Dyke as firefighters battled a couple of big fires on Detroit's east side this morning.
In the latest blaze, Detroit firefighters are pouring water on an apartment building. Ambulance crews are standing by. Injuries are unknown.
This fire is about a half mile away from an earlier fire that destroyed a house on the I-94 service drive and Van Dyke. The new owner of that house said he had just bought it a month ago and had everything he had inside. The cause hasn't been determined.
