Google To Expand Its Presence In Ann Arbor

ANN ARBOR (CBS Detroit) - Google confirmed Friday that it will be expanding its presence in Ann Arbor with the construction of a new campus in the city.

Google currently leases 85,000 square feet in the McKinley Towne Center, and will nearly double its space when it moves to its new campus on Traverwood Dr., near the University of Michigan North Campus.

"Google has had a wonderful home in Ann Arbor since 2006, and we're thrilled to continue to grow here," said Mike Miller, head of Google's Ann Arbor office, in a statement emailed to WWJ.  "We're excited to move to the north side of the city and create a campus.  We're looking forward to getting to know our new neighborhood."

The company confirmed it will move into an existing building, and build a new building, on the campus.

Current Google employees will move into the new complex by the end of the 2016, when construction is complete.
