Dan Gilbert To Pitch The Motor City To Silicon Valley

SOUTHFIELD (CBS Detroit) - Dan Gilbert will use the break in the NBA Finals pitch the Motor City Friday night to an audience of Silicon Valley leaders.

Gilbert, who is the owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers and founder of Quicken Loans, will sit down with the owner of the Golden State Warriors, Joe Lacob, who is a partner at venture capital firm Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield & Byers.

Organizers of the "fireside chat" state the men will talk about, championship philosophy, investment strategy, the impact of technology on sports and highlight Detroit as the place to be for entrepreneurs.

Their teams are facing off in the NBA Finals. Golden State won Game 1 Thursday, and will take the court Sunday in Oakland

The 8:30 p.m. Friday chat will be held in San Francisco before an audience of sports, venture capital and tech leaders. It will also livestreamed on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJUNSCp6FGI.

This is not the first time Gilbert has pitched Detroit to Silicon Valley. In September, he discussed the rebirth of the city at TechCrunch.
