Former Detroit Tigers Broadcaster, Paul Carey, Dead At 88

DETROIT (WWJ) - Long-time Detroit Tigers announcer, Paul Carey, died Tuesday.

Russ McNamara spoke with Dan Dickerson about the passing of former Detroit Tigers radio voice:

"Oh, he was just one of the really great guys in broadcasting history in Detroit," said Dickerson. "The 19 years you mentioned with the Tigers, the 'voice of God' as I think Mike Downey might have been the first to dub Paul Carey that. A wonderful voice and a wonderful person.

Carey was best known alongside Ernie Harwell. He was 88 years old.
