Flea Mart Murder: 2 Men Gun Down Store Owner In Detroit

DETROIT (WWJ) - Homicide investigators in Detroit are searching for two men who gunned down a 45-year-old store owner on the city's east side.

The incident unfolded just after 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Linn Bonn Flea Mart on East 7 Mile Road near Dequindre.

According to police, two men entered the store and inquired about making a purchase. At some point, one of the suspects pulled out a gun and opened fire, striking the store owner in the chest. The suspects then fled the scene.

The victim was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. His name has not yet been released.

The first suspect is described as black male about 20- to 30-years-old and 170 lbs., with a medium complexion, thin build and light mustache. He was wearing a white shirt, blue jeans and black knitted cap. The second suspect was described only as a black male.

Several people in the area were shocked to hear about what happened inside the store.

A woman who only wanted to be identified as Felicia said the victim, who she called "Moe," had started running the store about a month ago after his grandmother, the previous owner, passed away.

Police have not yet discussed a motive for the crime. It wasn't immediately clear if anything was taken from the store.

An investigation is ongoing.
