Fire Breaks Out At Pet Grooming Business In Royal Oak
ROYAL OAK (WWJ) - Authorities are investigating a fire that started at a pet grooming business along the Royal Oak-Clawson border.
The fire broke out Friday morning at The Smiling Dog Spa & Barktique on Rochester Road, between 14 Mile and 13 Mile roads. The fire spread to a nearby kitchen and bath store, as well as a vacant pizza shop.
"Had a little commercial fire. Not sure how it started," Royal Oak Assistant Fire Chief Jim Cook told WWJ's Charlie Langton. "When our guys showed up, there was heavy flame and they attacked it right away and made a nice stop on it."
Authorities say the businesses had not yet opened for the day, and no one appears to have been inside the building when the fire took off.
A cause of the fire remains under investigation.
