Fine For Parking On The Street During Snow Emergency In Livonia Doubles
LIVONIA (WWJ) - Consider yourself warned: Don't leave your car in the street in Livonia, during a snow emergency.
That's the advice from Livonia Mayor Jack Kirksey. If you don't, it's going to cost you some big bucks:
"The amount of the ticket has been moved from fifty to a hundred dollars to give people a greater reason for getting out and moving their vehicles," said Kirksey.
The measure was approved at Monday night's City Council meeting by a 6-to-1 vote.
"We stated the reasons why it's being adjusted at this point and the goal of course was to write fewer tickets than more tickets, and it's to be a greater incentive ... when snow emergencies occur," he said.
The measure goes into effect in one month.
Recently it was reported that over 2,500 tickets were handed out to folks who parked on the street during snow emergencies in Royal Oak.
