Feds Offer $50K Reward For Tip To Solve Case Of Judge Shot In Detroit
DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - Federal investigators have increased the reward to $50,000 to solve the shooting of U.S. District Judge Terrence Berg during an attempted robbery at his home in Detroit.
Detroit FBI chief agent Paul M. Abbate announced Thursday that the U.S. Marshals Service is adding $15,000 to the reward fund. The FBI is offering $25,000 and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is offering $10,000.

Authorities say two young men accosted the 55-year-old Berg on March 5 on the front porch of his home in the University-Golf Course district, near 7 Mile and Livernois, on the city's northwest side.
The suspects apparently told Berg, who was taking out the trash, that he was being robbed and that they did not want to kill him. They then tried to force the judge back into his house. When struggle ensued, one of the suspects opened fire, striking Berg in the leg.
The assailants, described as African-American males, approximately 18- to 20-years old, fled the scene in a black vehicle — likely a Chrysler 300 or Dodge Charger.
Investigators do not think that Berg was intentionally targeted as he ans his wife told investigators they did not recognize the assailants.
