Man Ejected From Truck In Fatal Crash On I-75 In Auburn Hills

AUBURN HILLS (WWJ) - Police say a 21-year-old man who was killed in a crash on I-75 was not wearing his seat belt.

The accident happened around 5:35 a.m. Wednesday on northbound I-75 just north of Walton Boulevard in Auburn Hills.

According to police, a green Chevy S-10 pickup truck was traveling northbound on I-75 when the driver apparently lost control and struck a guardrail along the right shoulder. The truck then veered left across all lanes and struck the median wall.

The driver, a 21-year-old Columbus, Mich. man, was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle, police said. He was declared dead at the scene.

No other vehicles were involved, and no one else was injured. The man's name has not yet been released.

Police say it's not yet clear if alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is urged to contact the Auburn Hills Police Department at 248-370-9444.

Northbound I-75 was closed for about three hours while police investigated, but has since reopened.
