It was the bottom of the third, the bases were loaded and no on was out. The Yankees Jacoby Ellsbury faced Max Scherzer, smashed a ball to deep left center field, and that's when the Tigers new center fielder Ezequiel Carrera made his presence known.
"Holy cats!" is the way Fox Sports Detroit play-by-play man Mario Impemba described it. The words I yelled while watching the game on Monday night aren't as for work.
Even future hall-of-famer Derek Jeter was shown on TV saying, "wow." Max Scherzer gave a tip of the cap to Carrera.
This play is very similar to the plays former Angel's outfielder Jim Edmonds used to make.
Was Carrera's catch better than Edmonds?
