Ex-Bears Player Acquitted Of Drug, Battery Charges
CHICAGO (AP) — Former Chicago Bears wide receiver David Terrell was found not guilty of drug and battery charges.
The Chicago Sun-Times reports (http://bit.ly/1oRq9gM ) the 35-year-old was cleared after a Cook County judge acquitted him last Friday.
Terrell faced a felony charge for manufacturing or delivering marijuana as well as a misdemeanor battery charge. He's denied any wrongdoing.
He was arrested in 2013 after police received a call about people smoking marijuana in a building. Authorities say Terrell and two others were spotted with cannabis and "materials to package and distribute narcotics."
Authorities said the 35-year-old also struck an officer's hand during an interview.
Terrell, who played for the University of Michigan, was drafted by the Bears in 2001. He finished his five-year career with 128 receptions and 9 touchdowns.
