Events Planned Across Metro Detroit To Mark Veterans Day
DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - Events are planned across metro Detroit to mark Veterans Day and honor those serving our country.
At Great Lakes National Cemetery in Oakland County's Holly Township, a Veterans Day ceremony is planned featuring patriotic music by New Century Chorale and Grand Blanc High School Chorale. A rifle salute and wreath presentation also is planned.
In Detroit, police are holding an annual parade and luncheon honoring over 500 veterans from all branches of service. It all kicks off at 10 a.m. at the Belmont Shopping Center on 8 Mile Road.

Allen Park High School will celebrate veterans for the tenth year in a row with two formal assemblies, at 12:30 and 1:30 p.m., at the Allen Park Center for the Arts.
Stahls Automotive Museum of Chesterfield will open its doors to veterans, current service members and all who wish to honor the men and women who have served for a special Veterans Day event, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Guests can take a walk back in time and explore the museum's nearly 100 vintage vehicles, watch historic military footage, and enjoy the bells and whistles of the famous Wurlitzer Pipe Organ as it chimes throughout the museum playing military tunes. The event is free and open to the public.
