Electric Snow Blower Demonstration Pits Lithium-Ion Batteries Vs Wet Wood Chips
NOVI (WWJ) - Whether you like it or not -- winter is coming. It's hard to envision the challenge of a foot of snow in your driveway when it's sunny and 80 degrees, but at the Novi Home Depot they're getting shoppers in the frosty frame of mind.
Lawn and garden tool company EGO demonstrates their battery-powered snow blower using wet wood chips as a replacement for snow. The the 56 volt lithium-ion powered snow blower performed as expected clearing the path quickly.
Company spokesperson Jerry Barnaby touts the features of the blower as having all the power and performance of gas equipment without the noise, fuss and fumes. The specs say it clears a typical suburban driveway on one charge that runs for an hour and takes 55 minutes to recharge.
"We benchmarked it against a Toro gas single-stage and it performs just as well as that. So it throws it just as far it can handle just as much snow, but it's so much more quiet," said Barnaby.
The EGO snow blower retails for $600 at Home Depot where they are currently taking pre-orders.
