Elderly Man Shot, Carjacked Outside Detroit Liquor Store

DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police are searching for a pair of suspects who allegedly shot and carjacked an elderly man outside of a liquor store on the city's west side.

The incident happened around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday outside of Big Daddy's Liquor on Joy Road just west of the Southfield Freeway.

The 81-year-old victim was in his 2013 gray Chevy Cruze when two suspects approached and shot him multiple times. The suspects allegedly took about $700 from the man before fleeing the scene in his vehicle.

The man was taken to the hospital in temporary serious condition.

The suspects, both described as males between 18- and 22-years-old, remain at large.

An investigation is ongoing.
