Eastbound I-696 Reopens After Fatal Accident Investigation

FARMINGTON HILLS (WWJ) - A busy section of I-696 in Farmington Hills has reopened after police wrapped up a fatal accident investigation.

The accident happened around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday on eastbound I-696 at the Farmington Road overpass, between I-275 and Orchard Lake Road.

Sources tell WWJ the incident involves a pedestrian who apparently fell or jumped to their death from the overpass.

Reporting live from the scene, WWJ's Mike Campbell said it appears that two vehicles were involved. Other circumstances weren't immediately clear.

Information on the victim has not yet been released.

The freeway was closed for nearly four hours but has since reopened.
