Detroit Freeway Shooting Leaves One Dead

DETROIT (WWJ) A freeway shoot-out on Detroit's east side left one person dead.

Police said shots were fired between two vehicles, a driver was shot in the head and a passenger was hit multiple times. It happened at about 10:30 p.m.

The scene ended on I-94 along Harper on the east side, between Dickerson and Connor, near the Chandler Park Aquatic Center, reported WWJ's Mike Campbell.

There's a guard rail there near a tree and somehow the car that was involved in the shooting ended up threading the needle between the two and ending up against the fence between I-94 and Harper.

The freeway was closed for about five  hours overnight, reopening at 4 a.m.

Michigan State Police are investigating what started the deadly confrontation.
