ROSEVILLE (WWJ) - A Roseville police officer out on patrol was hit by an alleged drunken driver at 3 a.m. Friday in a parking lot at Groesbeck and 12 Mile Road.

"The driver was highly intoxicated and really had no clue where he was at," said Roseville Police Chief James Berlin.

No one was injured, the chief said; adding the patrol car had minor damage.

The driver, Sean Robinson, 22, of Warren, failed to yield the right-of-way and drove straight into the officer's squad car, police said. He was arrested for operating while impaired and causing a crash while impaired, both 90 day misdemeanors

He blamed the officer for causing the crash, police said. Robinson registered a .17 on a Breathalyzer, police said, which is more than twice the .08 threshold for drunken driving.

"If he'd been twins, both would have been legally intoxicated at the time of the crash," Berlin said.
