Drone Video Shot Over Flooded Hayes Road Is Both Scary And Cool

CBS DETROIT - Gov. Rick Snyder called this week's flooding in metro Detroit "a disaster in every sense of the word" .... and this footage sure shows it.

Aerial drone video posted by YouTube user Jake Schultz — one day after a torrential downpour stranded hundreds of motorists, shut down area freeways and left homeowners bailing out their basements — presents a dramatic picture of a water-logged Macomb County.

The video was shot Aug. 12, over Hayes Road between Clinton River Road and Utica Road.

Talking to WWJ Newsradio 950 that day, Macomb County Executive Mark Hackle said the south end of the county was hit the hardest, and flooding along the Clinton River was a concern, with the water level at a record high.

Hackle said he wasn't anticipating evacuations would be necessary — but officials would be keeping an eye on the situation.

Meantime, local residents had hope that help may be on the way, when the governor issued an official declaration of disaster for Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties.
