Driver On Potholes: "It's Like A Graveyard, A Hole For Everybody's Car"

Southfield (WWJ)- "Get someone out here to fix the potholes, help, help, help."

Many drivers, may be thinking the same as Glenn Jefferies of Detroit,  who has been dodging potholes on freeways and other roads in the Detroit area.

"It's like a graveyard out here, like a hole for everybody's car,"  Jefferies said Monday morning near Eight Mile and Greenfield roads.  Jefferies said his car had a flat tire and damaged rims.   which is one of the roads that will be repaired this summer.

People calling WWJ Monday morning had a list of pothole problem areas including:  the Lodge Freeway service drive near Eight Mile, I-96 eastbound near Livernois, Hannan Road over I-275,  northbound Southfield Freeway between Grand River and McNichols, Lahser Road from Long Lake to Maple.

Sibley Road near I-75 was also an area to avoid.  "I'm telling you I come out of work there everyday, I'm scared to death because it's nothing but holes and holes and more holes," one caller said.

Monday morning and over the past week, dozens of cars had flat tires after hitting potholes on I-94 near I-75 and on I-96 near Merriman Road in Livonia.

Patching crews are expected to be filling the holes throughout the area today.  Crews, who have worked many weekends this year salting or plowing snow from the roads, were patching on I-696, I-75 and the Lodge Freeway this weekend.

The cold and then warmer weather in southeastern Michigan last week along with rain caused more pavement to crumble.
