Driver Charged In Deaths Of 2 Detroit Pedestrians

DETROIT (AP) - A 34-year-old man has been charged in a fatal hit-and-run crash in Detroit that left two pedestrians dead.

Detroit police say 56-year-old Wayne Sanders and 44-year-old Kathy Lewis were walking on the city's west side about 10:30 p.m. Friday when a car hit them, then drove off.

Police and prosecutors say that Markus Hutson was arraigned Thursday in Detroit District Court. He's charged with failure to stop at the scene of a fatal accident and is due back in court April 1 for a probable-cause hearing.

The Wayne County prosecutor's office says it doesn't have immediate information on whether he has a lawyer.
