Documentary Looks At Women's Professional Baseball League
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) - A documentary developed by Grand Valley State University students, faculty and staff explores the role the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League has played in women's sports.
The Grand Rapids school says "A Team of Their Own: The First Professional Baseball League for Women" took a decade to develop.
Screenings are scheduled Thursday at Celebration! Cinema Carousel in Muskegon and Nov. 10 at the Grand Rapids Public Museum.
The documentary was produced by the school's Veterans History Project and includes interviews with more than 40 women who played in the league during and after World War II.
The school says the Grand Rapids Chicks and Muskegon Lassies competed in the league.
Veterans History Project director James Smither says the documentary will be shown in most cities where the league had teams.
