Divers Resume Search In Lake For Detroit-Area Fire Chief

HARRISON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Winds were strong and waves were high when a suburban Detroit fire chief jumped into Lake St. Clair to retrieve his hat. Two days later, his body hasn't been found.

Divers returned to the lake Sunday to search for Southfield Fire Chief Keith Rowley, who has been missing since Friday. He was on a boat with three people, off Harrison Township.

Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham says it's a recovery at this point, not a rescue.

Penny Lepper says she was fishing with her husband Friday when the wind was as strong as 20 mph and the lake had whitecaps.
