Disabled Man Shot Dead Inside Party Store; Suspect At Large

INKSTER (WWJ) - Police have released several photos as they search for a suspect in a deadly shooting at an Inkster party store.

Michigan State Police say the victim, identified as 31-year-old Hassan Ibrahim Tanana of Inkster, was shot a number of times by the suspect following an argument inside Fast Franks Thursday evening.

Tanana, who lived in a group home, was well-known in the area — especially to regular customers of the party store

"He suffered from some mental disabilities and was known to sit outside of the store and ask for spare change to buy pop or other items," said MSP First Lt. Mike Shaw.

Following the shooting, Shaw said Tanana was transported to Beaumont Hospital Dearborn where he later died of his injuries. The suspect, who is also a regular customer of Fast Franks, fled the scene in a silver Dodge Durango.

Police continue to seek tips in the case.

"We are hoping that the public will help us identify the suspect from the surveillance tape, before he hurts someone else," Shaw said.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect, suspect vehicle or witnessed the incident o call the MSP Tip line at 855-642-4847 (855-MICH-TIP).
