Detroit's Duo Of Stafford, Johnson Combined For Dud In Loss

LARRY LAGE, AP Sports Writer

ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) — Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson says the loss at San Diego felt like a light day of work.

It looked like one, too.

Johnson had a career-low two receptions in a season-opening game, catching half of the four footballs thrown his way, and finishing with just 39 yards receiving. He hopes for a much busier and productive game this Sunday at Minnesota.

Matthew Stafford understands people are questioning why he didn't try to get Johnson the ball more even though the Chargers cloaked him with two defenders for much of the game. Stafford says he has been guilty of forcing passes to Johnson in the past and he's hoping to spread the ball around to open teammates in the future.
