Detroit Signs Former Maine Player Renouf To Entry-Level Deal

DETROIT (AP) — The Detroit Red Wings signed free-agent defenseman Dan Renouf to a two-year entry-level contract Thursday.

The 21-year-old Renouf just finished his junior season at the University of Maine. He led the Black Bears' defensemen with 15 points on six goals and nine assists in 38 games.

The deal will start next season. Renouf signed an amateur tryout with the American Hockey League's Grand Rapids Griffins and will report there for the rest of the season.
