The incident happened Wednesday night in the 7000 block of Montrose, in a west side neighborhood near Warren Avenue and Greenfield Road.
Police say they found items at the home with "blood all over" that might indicate the woman was hit with some sort of weapon.
After the assault, the suspect fled the home and the victim was found later at a friend's home, police said. She is expected to be OK.
Investigators are now looking for the man. He's said to be driving a black PT Cruiser with license plate "DFS 5804."
