Detroit Police Officer Shot During Drug Raid
DETROIT (WWJ) -- While conducting a drug raid on the city's west side, a Detroit police officer was shot on Saturday morning.
Police told WWJ Newsradio 950 that while officers approached the home on Orangelawn and Ohio west of Grand River to deliver a warrant for marijuana, a 21-year-old man shot at them with an AR-15 before answering the door.
Shrapnel from a metal door hit and injured one officer.
The injured officer is expected to be alright after undergoing surgery. Police arrested three of the five suspects involved, and later apprehended the final two on Saturday evening.
