Detroit Police Investigate Suspected Murder-Suicide

DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police are investigating what they believe is a deadly case of domestic violence.

Officers received a call around 4:35 p.m. Wednesday from a person who discovered the bodies of a 45-year-old man and 42-year-old woman inside a home in 2200 block of Sheridan, near Vernor Highway and Van Dyke on the city's east side. The caller was a family member of one of the victims.

Police responded to the scene and found a weapon near the bodies.

According to reports, it appears that the man, a Detroit resident, shot and killed his girlfriend, of Clinton Township, before turning the gun on himself. Their names were not immediately released.

Authorities are awaiting autopsy results to determine an exact cause of death.

An investigation is ongoing.
