Detroit Man Charged With Murder, Reckless Driving In Police Chase Crash

REDFORD TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - A 27-year-old Detroit man accused of — among other things — causing a fatal crash in now behind bars, facing a laundry list of charges.

According to Livonia police, John McCallum is charged with second degree murder, reckless driving causing death, fleeing a police officer, operating a vehicle on a suspended or revoked license causing death, attempted home invasion, and habitual offender — fourth offense.

On Monday, Oct. 6, McCallum allegedly slammed his car into another vehicle while being pursued by police in Redford Township. A woman in the other vehicle was killed.

McCallum was arraigned on Thursday by the 16th District Court of Livonia in a local hospital, where is recovering from injuries sustained in the crash.

He will be back in court for a preliminary examination on Oct. 23.
