Detroit Man Charged After Pointing Gun At Off-Duty Cop In Alleged Road Rage Incident
DETROIT (WWJ) - A 27-year-old Detroit man has been charged with felonious assault after he allegedly brandished a gun in a case of road rage in Royal Oak.
According to Michigan State Police, Jermaine Green was driving a Chevy Camaro "at excessive speeds and tailgating other drivers" while traveling southbound on I-75 near 12 Mile, shortly before 3 p.m. last Saturday.
After Green flashed his headlights, another driver change lanes, police said. That's when Green allegedly pulled alongside that car and pointed a semi-automatic pistol at the driver — who happened to be an off-duty MSP trooper.
The trooper and was able to get the Camaro's license plate number before the car sped off.
Green was later stopped on I-75 and M-8 in Detroit, where he was taken into custody and the weapon was seized. Police say he did have a concealed pistol license.
Green was arraigned Tuesday at the 52-4 District Court in Troy where bond was set at $20,000.
He remains lodged at the Oakland County Jail pending a preliminary exam set for Thursday, Aug. 13 at 8:30 a.m.
