Fear not, Wings fans.
Despite suffering a knee injury last month, Red Wings captain Henrik Zetterberg said he'll be ready for the start of the 2016-17 season.
Zetterberg is sitting out of the upcoming World Cup of Hockey because of the injury, which he sustained during offseason training. He had originally been named captain of Team Sweden.
But he never feared his NHL season was in jeopardy, telling Wings GM Ken Holland earlier this month not to worry.
"He told me, 'Ken, I need a few weeks but I don't think it's anything significant,'" Holland said in a interview with NHL.com.
Zetterberg played in all 82 regular season games for the Wings last season and each of their five playoff games. He led the team in scoring with 50 points. Entering the 2016-17 season, he figures to be a prominent member of the team's top-six forward group.
As far as training camp goes, Zetterberg's status is up in the air.
But it looks like he'll be on the ice for the team's season-opener against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Oct. 13.
