Davis And White One Performance Away From Olympic Gold In Sochi

DETROIT (WWJ) - Olympic ice skaters with ties to metro Detroiters taking first and second place at the Olympics on Sunday.

Americans Meryl Davis and Charlie White, who trained at the Arctic Edge in Canton, won the Olympic short dance Sunday, to put them one performance away from a gold medal. CBS News Correspondent Steve Futterman reports from Sochi.

America's top ice dance team is in very good position after the short program. Davis and White are in first place, four years ago they finished third in the short program and were able to work their way to a silver medal but tomorrow night they will be in first place when the free dance program takes place and right now they are probably the favorite to win gold said Futterman.

Coming in second, are Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir, who also trained at the Arctic Edge.

They are representing Canada.
