Darren McCarty Connects With Red Wings Street Summer Hockey Tour In Fraser
DETROIT (WWJ) - Hockey in August? If it's Hockeytown, of course!
It was all part of the Red Wings Street Summer Hockey Tour which landed in the parking lot of the Meijer store in Fraser. There were two rinks, and the kids learned some skills from former Red Wings' Darren McCarty.
L.J Gitner wants to be a defenseman. So did McCarty teach him how to fight?
"... I watch him all the time on YouTube so I already know how," said Gitner.

The four-time Stanley Cup champion McCarty serving as guest coach for the event on Tuesday.
Kristin Buckley brought along her 12-year-old son, Jeff, who is a goalie for a team in Troy.
Buckley said 'hockey is in our blood,' so of course they wouldn't miss this chance to get tips from one of the fan favorites during his tenure with the Red Wings.
The Wings will wind up their tour at the Meijer Store in Allen Park on Thursday [find more here].
