Cops: Bike Tracks In Snow Lead To A&W Armed Robber
MONROE (WWJ) - The snow helped authorities track down a teenager suspected in an armed robbery.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff's officials, 16-year old implied he had a gun when he robbed a worker delivering food to an A&W restaurant in the 1200-block of N. Monroe Street in Frenchtown Township last week.
Officials say the suspect ran away from the scene before jumping on a bike and rising to a nearby apartment complex. Deputies followed the bike tracks to the complex; and, after talking with some local residents, found out for whom they were searching.
The teen, whose name has not been released, was arrested Wednesday morning on other, as yet unspecified, criminal charges.
The teen was lodged Thursday in the Monroe County Youth Center awaiting formal armed robbery charges by the Monroe County Prosecutor's Office. It's unclear at this time if prosecutor's may seek to charge him as an adult.
An investigation by Monroe County Sheriff's detectives is ongoing.
