Community Connect Spotlight: Eastern Market

Southfield (CW50) - Eastern Market is the largest historic public market in the country, and has been a place in Detroit where you can find just about anything. With the holiday season going on, Eastern Market has even more to do this time of year.

Lonni Thomas, Eastern Market Manager, sits down with COMMUNITY CONNECT Host, Lisa Germani, to talk about what Eastern Market is doing during the holiday season.

Eastern Market is a food hub, filled with dozens of small businesses and vendors. The different markets on different days bring a large variety of vendors from food to jewelry.

For the holiday season, Eastern Market has five special Holiday Markets, including their first Thursday night holiday market. The holiday markets also include the Sunday Holiday Market.

Eastern Market has a plan to elevate its beauty and increase the clientele by 2025. This plan includes expanding parking lots, renovating the historic sheds, repaving the walkways, and more businesses opening on the main street.
