Apple Profiles Co-Founder Of Detroit Slow Roll In iPad Feature

By Edward Cardenas

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) - The co-founder of a community bicycle rides throughout the city of Detroit has caught the attention of Apple, and is featured in a new advertising campaign for the computer company.

Jason Hall, who is the co-founder the Slow Roll city bike ride, uses his iPad to help organize and map the rides through Detroit and is profiled on Apple's "Your Verse" website.

The website includes a short story and videos of how the ride has grown from a gathering of 10 friends on a Monday night into an event which draws hundreds of cyclists - and has grown to as large as 2,000. Each week Hall stated that he uses his iPad to plan and promote the Slow Roll.

"Slow Roll has transcended your typical bike ride," Hall told Apple, who added that he wanted to "show Detroit in a positive light to help repopulate it." "We're changing lives. It's affecting people in a real way, and it's changing people's perceptions."

Hall also shared his favorite apps he uses to organize the rides on the website, and will be traveling to Apple Stores in Washington, D.C., Chicago and Portland in the coming weeks.

Additionally there is a link to start a Slow Roll in other communities around the world. Slow Rolls have been organized in cities including Cleveland, Berlin and Slemani in Kurdistan, Iraq.

For more information about the effort, and how to participate, visit the Slow Roll website.
