Lenox Township man charged after Chesterfield Township woman dies in hit-and-run crash
CHESTERFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (CBS DETROIT) - A 39-year-old Lenox Township man has been charged in connection to a hit-and-run that killed a 39-year-old Chesterfield Township woman.
A 39-year-old woman from Chesterfield Township died after a crash on Friday, Jan. 26, the Chesterfield Township Police Department said.
Police responded to the crash involving two vehicles, both with heavy damage and debris on the roadway in the area of Gratiot Avenue and 25 Mile Road, investigation shows.
The Chesterfield woman was driving a Kia sedan and the second vehicle involved was a Ford F-250 where witnesses reported seeing a man running from the vehicle after the crash, police said.
Police later identified the suspect as Matthew Reynolds, 39, of Lenox Township and he was arraigned on Tuesday, Jan. 30.
Reynolds was charged with failure to stop at scene of accident, when at fault causing death, lying to a peace officer and operating without ignition interlock device.
He is currently lodged at the Macomb County Jail and was given a $300,000 cash bond.
Reynolds' probable cause conference is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 7.
