Cash Reward Offered To Catch Downriver Bank Robber

WYANDOTTE (WWJ) - A cash reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the man who robbed at least one bank Downriver and might be responsible for additional crimes.

The most recent robbery took place around 10:50 a.m. Tuesday at the Monroe Bank & Trust on Fort Street at Vinewood, between Eureka and Northline roads in Wyandotte.

According to police, a black man walked into the bank, approached a teller and showed his waistband, implying he had a weapon. The man then reportedly asked for $100 and $50 bills before fleeing the scene on foot. No customers were inside the bank at the time, and no one was injured.

The suspect is described as in his 40's, about 6-feet tall and 185 pounds with a thin build.

According to reports, the man is believed to be the same suspect who robbed a bank in Brownstown Township in June.

Anyone with information on the suspect or either crime is urged to contact police at 734-324-4405 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
