Car Slams Into House On Detroit's West Side

DETROIT (WWJ) - A woman is hospitalized after crashing into a home on Detroit's west side.

The incident unfolded Thursday morning in the 11600 block of Evergreen, just north of Plymouth Road.

It appears that the woman was driving south on Evergreen when she crossed over the northbound lanes, hit a SUV, jumped a curb, totaled a car that was parked in a driveway and destroyed front porch on Vee Scaro's home.

"When we came out she was knocked out for a second. She woke up, she looked, she said 'Oh my god,' and they put her on a stretcher," Scaro told WWJ's Vickie Thomas. "It tore the porch up. My son was just about to leave out and go to work. Thank by the grace of God he didn't get hurt. House got smashed, but we all here."

Scaro said the woman appeared to be slightly confused after coming to.

"She left a shoe behind, a stiletto. She said she just got off work at DPW, with stilettos," Scaro said with a laugh.

The woman taken to the hospital for treatment, although her current condition is unknown. No other injuries were reported.
