BERLIN TWP. (WWJ) - Police in Monroe County are asking the public for help in identifying a suspect who robbed a gas station at gunpoint.

The incident occurred just after 4 a.m. Saturday at the Newport Travel Center - Marathon Gas Station on Newport Road off I-75 in Berlin Township.

Police say the suspect entered the business and approached the cashier to make a purchase. While the cashier was completing the sale, the suspect produced a handgun and demanded the money from the register, according to police.
